Antony Micallef

Having a background in fine art was the perfect footing for an artist such a Micallef. Often using bold and loose freehand charcoal strokes to create expressive faces, in a style that has been alikened to luminaries such as Francis Bacon.

The subject matter of his work often tends to examine our dichotomus relationship with consumerism. More recently he has been exploring the inner nature of the human condition with his 'becoming animal' series where subjects appear as part human and part beast.
